Situation
Based in Lucerne, WAS Wirtschaft Arbeit Soziales coordinates services related to social insurance and the labor market. To address the challenges of managing its diverse project portfolio efficiently, WAS planned to introduce a standardized project management system. The aim was to gain an overview of the WAS project landscape and improve project planning, delivery and tracking.
The WAS enterprise project management initiative, led by Urs Rüttimann (Head of IT) and Nik Bättig (Head of Project Management Office), aimed to automate the end-to-end project life cycle, with a strong focus on ease of use and transparency across the project portfolio.
From a technology perspective, WAS favored a strong integration of project management and collaboration into a single ecosystem. The decision for Microsoft 365 enabled WAS to modernize its project management practices by making full use of standards within the Microsoft Power Platform, Planner and Teams. Special emphasis from a WAS perspective was put on compliance with Swiss data protection regulation, particularly regarding the use of Microsoft Cloud services.
Solution
In order to address existing challenges and to bring project management to a next level, WAS opted for PlainPPM as the future enterprise project management solution.
PlainPPM convinced WAS by offering a light and intuitive user experience and by covering the end-to-end project life cycle, both on a portfolio, as well as on a single project layer. PlainPPM furthermore provides a wide array of features to support all users to successfully plan and execute projects.
PlainPPM enables WAS:
- to document and evaluate project ideas,
- to align project ideas with strategic goals,
- to create project templates,
- to get a real-time view of all ongoing projects and requests,
- to plan, deliver and track projects more effectively, and
- to improve collaboration at both project and portfolio level.
